Overview

Ren's Underworld is a story-driven, first-person fantasy RPG in an extremely atmospheric and immersive world created with Unreal Engine 4. Its multi-layered story takes place mostly under the surface in dark caves, long forgotten tombs and dangerous dungeons. As in any classic fantasy RPG, you can train and equip your character, develop skills, interact with NPCs, trade and complete quests. Every path, every stone and every element in all different kind of areas are placed by hand and are not randomly generated. There are memorable and epic locations, so you won’t need any automatic quest markers to blindly follow. You won’t be blinded by colorful and bright comic-like graphics, which would hide all the dark secrets Ren has to offer. It is inspired by games like Ultima Underworld, Dark Souls and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Arx Fatalis were also great inspirations for the creation of Ren’s Underworld.

The fantastic art design and indirect storytelling from the Dark Souls game series were a great inspiration. So it is not surprising that a few game mechanics are influenced from Dark Souls.
